Jockey Club Youth Academy for Special Educational Needs Outcome Sharing Seminar cum Speech Day (2021-22)

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the outcome sharing seminar cum speech day of Jockey Club Youth Academy for Special Educational Needs (JCYASEN) on 8 July (Friday). At the event, JCYASEN of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will share the outcomes and experiences of supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).

The JCYASEN was established by the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) at EdUHK, thanks to a donation of HK$18 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and the support of the Education Bureau (EDB) and Hong Kong Special Schools Council.

Through a series of practical courses and training, JCYASEN aims to provide SEN secondary school leavers with continuous learning opportunities at university, such as self-management and life skills for the 21st century. Meanwhile, JCYASEN also provides a platform for pre-service teachers and relevant stakeholders to work with the SEN students in advancing social inclusion.

Among the guests at the Ceremony will be Professor John Lee Chi-kin, the Vice President (Academic) and Provost of EdUHK; Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung, Director of CSENIE and JCYASEN; Dr Leung Wing-hung, Chairman of Hong Kong Special Schools Council and Ms Louise So Yuen-yi, Principal Assistant Secretary (Special Education) of EDB. During the ceremony, Dr Tang Kit-yi, Lecturer of the Department of Education Studies of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), will walk through a newly developed tool by EdUHK and HKBU titled “4C Personal Resources Assessment Tool”, which will be distributed for free to all local secondary schools to support the life planning of SEN youths.
