姜钟赫博士

助理教授

Born in Korea, raised in Taiwan, educated in the US and Hong Kong, Dr. Kang is a historian of Modern Hong Kong and China. Dr. Kang completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, master’s degree at Columbia University, and doctoral degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Kang’s research focuses mainly on the cultural interactions between the East and the West in historical contexts, including the areas of religion, medicine, and gender. Dr. Kang also studies the collision among cultures within East Asia, especially within colonial and post-colonial societies.

 

Dr Kang is also a dedicated educator who devotes himself to finding creative ways to motivate his students to learn history. Dr. Kang is the recipient of the Faculty of Humanities Teaching Award in 2017, President’s Awards for Outstanding Performance in Teaching in 2018, and University Grant Council (UGC) Teaching Award in 2018.
