Arriving EdUHK

Landing in Hong Kong

When you arrive in Hong Kong, you must show your visa permit to an immigration officer and he/she will stamp on it to activate your student visa. You will be asked to present your stamped student visa when you register at EdUHK.
 

Getting to EdUHK

From the airport, you can make your way to EdUHK either by bus from the Airport Ground Transportation Centre or by green taxi from the Airport Terminus.

By bus
Airbus E41 to Tai Po Central Bus Terminus

Make your way to the Airport Ground Transportation Centre and take bus number E41. Alight when the bus reaches Tai Po bus terminus. From there, take a green taxi or bus number 74K to EdUHK. The 74K departs from the same terminus. Check the route, fare and timetable here.

Green taxi from the Airport Terminus to EdUHK

Travelling to EdUHK by green taxi takes around 40-45 minutes and costs around HK$350-400 (including bridge/tunnel fees). You will need to pay an extra HK$6 for each piece of luggage. Not all drivers understand English so it is useful to be able to show them the name and address of EdUHK in Chinese, as follows:

Upon arrival at EdUHK
  1. Go to EdUHK Global Affairs Office and present your stamped student visa
  2. Go to the Registry to complete the registration process
  3. Pick up your student ID card
  4. Check in to your hostel (if you have applied to live on campus)
  5. Join the orientation programme
  6. Complete course registration
     
Hall Check-in

Detailed information on the Hall Check-in Arrangement could be found in the SAO Hall Management Section Website. Please note that you will need to pay a deposit for accommodation in cash to the bank on campus shortly after your arrival.
 

Orientation

Orientation activities will be organized to help students to learn about Hong Kong community, adjust to study and campus life and develop mutual support. You can find more information here.
 

Apply for a Hong Kong ID card

Under Immigration Ordinance, Cap 115, Laws of Hong Kong, those who stay in Hong Kong for over 180 days are required to apply for a Hong Kong Identity Card within 30 days of arrival.

Medical / Dental Check-up

EdUHK provides free medical / dental Check-up for all new full-time new students. For details, please refer to Student Affairs Office (SAO)’s website.
