  • The Scholarship is open to all full-time undergraduate (UG) students of the FHM UG programmes who have successfully completed the semester-long SEP or GSP/SSV of four weeks or above organised by the Global Affairs Office (GAO), or faculty-based four-week physical outgoing exchange programme organised by FHM, during the 2025/26 or 2026/27 academic year.

  • Students who meet the following two criteria are eligible to receive the Scholarship: (1) satisfactory completion of the on-site semester-long SEP or GSP/SSV of four weeks or above outside Hong Kong organised by GAO or faculty-based 4-week physical outgoing exchange programme organised by FHM and (2) Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above at the time of application for the exchange programme.
Virtual activities are ineligible for this Scholarship.

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7 or above.
Applicants are allowed to receive concurrent financial support from other internal/external source(s) (e.g. GLEF).




Costs for exchange vary, depending on your study destination and personal lifestyle. The table below lists the expenses may incur:

Tuition feeStudents should pay tuition fee to EdUHK as usual, do not need to pay tuition fee to host institution
Passport & VisaTo travel overseas, you must hold a valid travel document. Visit the website of Consulates in Hong Kong for application procedures and passport fees. You may also need to apply for a student visa or resident’s permit depending on your destination. Financial proof may be required by some host countries. You can check requirements and visa fees by contacting the relevant embassy or consulate
InsuranceAll EdUHK full-time students are covered by EdUHK’s Group Travel Insurance policy. For details, please refer to the insurance coverage of the existing travel insurance policy.
Exchange students are also required to purchase top-up insurance covering the entire period of exchange overseas. In some cases, you will be required to purchase a compulsory insurance plan from your host institution or host country.
TransportationThe cost of your flight/ train depends on the destination, class of flight, and time of the year that you depart.
AccommodationIn most cases, you have to pay an accommodation fee to your host institution or arrange a housing contract with a local agent. Various types of accommodation (single room, shared flat, etc) and compulsory meal plans may be available. You may need to pay a deposit or insurance to secure housing.
Health check & immunisationA host country or host institution dormitory may require you to undertake a body check and/or immunization.
Living expensesYou are responsible for all living expenses during your exchange. These may include a food/meal plan, books, local transportation, and entertainment.

 

Financial Supports

Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLEF)

All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in government-funded and self-funded programmes are eligible to apply for the University's Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLEF). Successful applicants will receive a sponsorship which is equivalent to 50% of expenses incurred under SEP, capped at HK$10,000* (Subject to the Terms & Conditions).

Student Exchange Scholarships and Schemes for Subsidy on Exchange

Student with good academic result (e.g. CGPA 3.0 or above) may be considered for the Student Exchange Scholarship. For other Schemes for Subsidy on Exchange, please refer to the SAO’s webpage.
