*Participants without initial teacher training are required to take 6 additional cps related to teaching & learning and classroom management.

The medium of instruction is mainly Chinese. English is adopted as the language of instruction for relevant courses, as appropriate.

  • Serving teachers holding a Certificate in Education or a Certificate of the Teachers of Children with Special Educational Needs (TCSEN) or equivalent
  • Applicants without the above qualifications but possess other post-secondary qualification at QF level 4 or above (such as Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma) and with experience in teaching or working with students with learning difficulties or special needs are welcome to apply
  • Interview may be required

During the course of study in the programme, participants are responsible for making their own arrangement to have relevant teaching in whole-day secondary / primary / kindergarten / special / international school or in relevant pre-school learning center (for SEN children) to fulfill the following FE requirements:

  1. For participants having a full-time teaching post in schools:
    to have a minimum of 4 teaching periods note 1 per week / cycle in the serving schools throughout the period of study in the programme.
  2. For participants without a full-time teaching post in schools:
    to make own arrangement to conduct a full-time block practice in schools to teach 4 to 8 teaching periods note 1 for consecutive 6 to 12 weeks during the specified supervision period in Year 2 and Year 3 respectively (i.e. at least 48 teaching periods note 1 in each academic year).
  3. Participants should teach lesson(s) which is/are able to demonstrate their abilities in teaching and catering for students with special needs. Each class should have not less than 10 students note 2.
  4. Participants without obtaining the qualifications (Qualified Teacher Status, QTS) to teach Physical Education are not allowed to conduct FE in Physical Education lessons.

Note 1:  Each period normally refers to a 30-40 minutes duration

Note 2: For special schools or relevant pre-school learning centers (for SEN children), the minimum number of students in a class is 8 according to the actual class size.

The tuition fee for the programme is HK$28,100 per annum. This fee is provisional and subject to adjustment.
