To promote collaborative learning environments, the lecture theatres B4-LP-04 and B4-LP-06 have been renovated, after the six lecture theatres in Block D.  Electrical sockets and USB ports have been installed on the bench for every seat so that users can use electronic devices for learning and note-taking.

New lifts at Block A to E

Three new lifts have become operational in Blocks B1, D1 and E to improve accessibility, following Blocks A, B3 and D3.  For promoting safety and facilitating barrier-free access, the lifts have a number of new features including the use of touchless technology, the installation of handrails and braille lift buttons and trilingual announcements for the visually impaired.

More than 100 toilets and 10 pantries in Blocks A to E have been refurbished in phases over the past few years.  More touchless sanitary fittings and improved mechanical ventilation system have been installed to enhance hygiene conditions.

Planned / On-going Projects

New Academic Building in Tai Po Campus

New Academic Building in Tai Po Campus, which is the first ever subvented capital works project implemented since the establishment of the campus, was approved by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council on 15 July 2022 with the Approved Project Estimate at $651.2 million in money-of-the-day (MOD) prices. The main works of the project subsequently commenced on 29 August 2022 for completion tentatively in Q1 2026.

Improvement of Toilets and Resurfacing of Basketball Court at Tseung Kwan O Study Centre

The toilet facilities will be upgraded in phases from 2025 to 2026 with touchless features incorporated for hygienic consideration and other water saving sanitary fittings provided. The outdoor basketball court will also be renovated tentatively in end 2025. 

Improvement Works of Chan Shiu-chow Performing Studio D2-LP-05

Tender for works contract is in progress.  The main works of the project will be carried out tentatively in January 2026 for completion tentatively in Q3 2026.

Replacement of Lift Systems at Student Hostels, Jockey Club Student Quarters and Senior Staff Quarters

The aging lifts covering high zone floors of Hall A to Hall C and all lifts of JCSQ and SSQ will be replaced in phases from 2025 to 2027. The first phase commenced in Aug 2025 for completion in Dec 2025, and the second phase commenced in Nov 2025 for completion tentatively in end Mar 2026.

Provision of Study Space at Mong Man Wai Library

Conversion of existing roof area to study spaces and discussion rooms at 2/F between Blocks B4 & C, and Blocks C & D1 as an extension to the Library. Construction works will be commenced in Q2 2026 for completion tentatively in Q4 2027.

Improvement of Teaching Venues at Block B and Block D

Six teaching venues on the LP/F of Block B (B1-LP-03, B1-LP-06, B1-LP-07 and B2-LP-13) and Block D (D2-LP-18 and D3-LP-15) will be renovated in two phases. The renovation works are tentatively scheduled in Q3 2026 and Q1 2027 respectively.

Provision of Teaching Venues at Block D

Construction of 5 numbers new teaching venues at G/F of Block D. Construction works will be commenced in Q2 2026 for completion tentatively in Q3 2026.
