National Flag Raising Ceremony on HKSAR Establishment Day

In celebration of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a National Flag Raising Ceremony on its Tai Po campus this morning (1 July).

The Ceremony was attended by Council Chairman Dr David Wong Yau-kar, Deputy Chairman Dr Terence Chan Ho-wah, Treasurer Ms Imma Ling Kit-sum, senior management, staff, students and alumni, together with principals of primary and secondary schools. During the ceremony, the national, regional and university flags were raised by a team made up of EdUHK students.

Dr Wong said, “It is most encouraging to see EdUHK students serve as the University’s flag raising team members on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.”

Acting President and President (Designate) Professor John Lee Chi-Kin said, “Conducting a flag-raising ceremony is an integral part of our national and etiquette education which helps cultivate a sense of national identity among staff and students. It gives me great pleasure to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR together with members of the University community and the school sector.”

EdUHK conducts flag raising ceremonies each Monday and on important dates, including the New Year’s Day, HKSAR Establishment Day, the National Day and the school commencement day.
