EdUHK Launches EASE Fund Scheme to Foster Entrepreneurship

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has announced the establishment of the EdUHK Education and Social Entrepreneurs Fund Scheme (EASE Fund), which provides seed grants to EdUHK students and alumni to set up companies, social enterprises or NGOs to pursue education and social innovation ventures. An introduction and sharing session was held today (30 July) to provide more details.

The goal of the EASE Fund is to establish a culture of entrepreneurship and social innovation in the EdUHK community and nurture creative and passionate entrepreneurs by supporting ventures that benefit and strengthen local communities and promote social harmony by providing solutions for those in need. Themed on education technology, education innovation and social innovation, the EASE Fund encourages students and alumni to transfer university knowledge into innovative products and services to transform education, improve social inclusion and narrow economic inequality.

Welcoming the EASE Fund, EdUHK Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Lui Tai-lok said, “As part of its commitment to nurturing outstanding and caring educators and professionals, EdUHK encourages its students and alumni to become socially responsible educational innovators. The EASE Fund motivates knowledge transfer and inspires new ways to transform EdUHK research into meaningful social projects. It also promotes an entrepreneurial mindset and an innovative spirit, which are all about confronting challenges and seizing opportunities. The goal of the EASE Fund is to groom social innovators who will take an active role in identifying and solving social problems and contributing to society and the education sector in the future.”

The EASE Fund is EdUHK’s first start-up fund and was established by the University’s Knowledge Transfer Sub-office of the Research and Development Office. All EdUHK students and alumni are welcome to apply in teams for cross-disciplinary collaboration. Each winning team will be awarded a seed fund up to HK$120,000. Applications are now open.
