EdUHK JCYASEN Students and Graduate Shine at the 9th National Special Olympics Table Tennis Event

The three-day Table Tennis event of the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) kicked off on 6 December at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre. Team Hong Kong fielded 11 athletes, including two students and one graduate from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Jockey Club Youth Academy of Special Educational Needs (JCYASEN). They achieved remarkable success, securing one gold, two silver and one bronze.


On the opening day, first-year JCYASEN student Li Tsz-yeung impressed in the men’s singles (16–21 age group), claiming the gold medal with an unbeaten record in his debut appearance. Fellow first-year JCYASEN student Liang Siu-hung also excelled, earning a silver medal in the men’s singles (22–29 age group). JCYASEN graduate Cheng Hoi-ching partnered in the women’s doubles (22–29 age group) to win a silver medal, and later added a bronze medal in the mixed doubles (22–29 age group), marking an impressive achievement.


The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th NSOG are being co-organised by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the General Administration of Sport of China. Events run from 8 to 15 December 2025 across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, sharing venues with the 15th National Games. The 9th NSOG features competitions in nine sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, bocce, football, weightlifting, roller sports, swimming and table tennis.
