EdUHK Debuts 530th in QS World University Rankings 2026 and 3rd in U.S. News & World Report Subject Ranking

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is proud to announce its debut in the QS World University Rankings 2026, unveiled today (19 June), placing within the top 35% globally at 530th, and also ranking 161st in Asia and 7th in Hong Kong. This excellent achievement in EdUHK’s first year of participation in the rankings, coupled with the QS subject rankings earlier this year, highlights the University’s growing recognition for its continuous improvement in academic research, research output and degree of internationalisation.

Furthermore, EdUHK has been recognised for its professionalism in the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings. According to the 2025-2026 Best Global Universities ranking, EdUHK has surged from 6th to 3rd globally in the field of education and educational research this year, with the Art and Humanities ranked 90th worldwide. Its overall ranking has also improved from 708th last year to 633rd this year, placing 181st in Asia and 7th in Hong Kong. The ranking includes 2,250 top institutions from 105 different countries.

Compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the QS World University Rankings evaluates institutions across nine key performance indicators, including academic reputation, citations per faculty, employer reputation, employment outcomes, faculty student ratio, international faculty and international student ratios. EdUHK excelled in the international faculty ratio, which demonstrates the University’s ability to attract academic talent from around the world, with a high level of internationalisation and successfully establishing a multicultural campus environment.

EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin was delighted with the result. “As a young and vibrant university, focusing on ‘Education Futures’, the University’s remarkable debut in the QS World University Rankings, and also gaining recognition from other organisations, are significant milestones. They reflect our unwavering commitment to academic excellence, impactful research and nurturing a globally engaged learning environment. They also motivate us to continue advancing our mission of innovating education and contributing meaningfully to the global academic community,” he said.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, announced in March, ranked the University 12th globally in Education, 4th in Asia, and 2nd in Hong Kong. EdUHK was also been rated as a “5-star institution” in the latest QS Stars rating system.

Furthermore, the Audit Report on the University by the Quality Assurance Council under the University Grants Committee found that EdUHK upholds rigorous academic standards and enhances quality in learning and teaching, identifying five features of good practice. These achievements reaffirm EdUHK’s commitment to advancing teaching quality, enhancing academic reputation, fostering educational innovation and continuing to strengthen internationalisation.
