Academic Year Inauguration cum Flag Raising Ceremony

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the Academic Year Inauguration cum Flag Raising Ceremony on its Tai Po campus today (4 September), marking the commencement of the new academic year.

Officiating at the event were EdUHK Deputy Council Chairman Dr Terence Chan Ho-wah, Treasurer Ms Imma Ling Kit-sum, President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, Vice Presidents, Deans, and other senior management. They were joined by around 1,000 students and teachers from the University, EdUHK Jockey Club Primary School (JCPS), and EdUHK Early Childhood Learning Centre (ECLC).

The ceremony also witnessed the first collaboration between students from EdUHK, JCPS and ECLC. They raised the national, regional and university flags as a team, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity within the EdUHK community.

Presiding over the ceremony for the first time in his capacity as President, Professor Lee was delighted to celebrate the inauguration of the new school year with teachers and students. “Starting our new academic year with the national flag raising ceremony is particularly meaningful, as it helps cultivate a sense of national identity,” he said.

Sharing his plans for the University’s development, Professor Lee added, “We will continue to strengthen teacher professionalism, develop educational technology, carry out more impactful research and education, and enhance connections with the Mainland and different countries. We will provide diverse learning opportunities for students and nurture them to become outstanding citizens who can contribute to society, to the country, and to the world."
