Book Launch of ‘Dual Career Pathway of Elite Athletes’

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the launch ceremony for a new publication, titled ‘Dual Career Pathway of Elite Athletes’, which encapsulates success stories of 12 EdUHK elite athletes who have struggled to balance their university studies with their intensive and demanding training schedules.

 

The University will also use this opportunity to make a pledge to be an ‘Elite Athlete Friendly University’ in Hong Kong, providing support for the athletes’ all-round development.

 

Initiated by the Department of Health and Physical Education at EdUHK, the book features student and alumni athletes of the University, including three-time Asian Games gold medallist Mr Wong Kam-po; former world champion racing cyclist Mr Marco Kwok Ho-ting; Asian Games gold medallists Mr Shek Wai-hung (gymnastics), Mr Leo Au Chun-ming (squash), Mr Lok Kwan-hoi (rowing), and Mr Cheng Kwok-fai (windsurfing); Asian Games silver medallists Ms Yip Pui-yin (badminton), Ms Chan Ka-man (karate), and Ms Liu Tsz-ling (squash); Karate National Champion Mr Chris Cheng Tsz-man; and 2016 Rio Olympic Games athletes Ms Lee Ka-man and her sister Ms Lee Yuen-yin (rowing). 

 

Officiating at the ceremony will be Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK; Mr Carlson Tong, Chairman of the University Grants Committee (UGC); UGC Secretary General Professor James Tang Tuck-hong; Mr Yeung Tak-keung, Commissioner for Sports of the Home Affairs Bureau; and Dr Ada Ma Wai-wing, Head of the Department of Health and Physical Education at EdUHK. In addition to athletes’ sharing, there will also be an autograph session, in which the featured athletes can interact with their supporters. Further details of the event are as follows:
