EdUHK Students Win First Prize at China Postgraduate Enterprise Management Innovation Competition’s Business Decision Track
A student team “Business Innovation & Go” from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)’s Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education (MA(PFE)) programme, recently won the First Prize in "The Third China Postgraduate Enterprise Management Innovation Competition – Business Decision Track". This achievement highlights EdUHK's commitment to nurturing talent in business and management innovation.
The competition was held under the guidance of the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education of China, and jointly organised by the Association of Chinese Graduate Education of China (ACGE) and the Children & Youth Science Centre of CAST. As a prestigious national-level business contest, this year’s event attracted 4,176 teams from 321 postgraduate training institutions nationwide, involving more than 18,000 participants. Among them, the Business Decision Track received registrations from 2,514 teams representing 304 universities.
The“Business Innovation & Go” team , led by team leader Mr Yang Shanglin, with members Mr Cai Jiawei and Mr Li Zheng, all students of the MA(PFE) programme, the team was mentored by Dr Tan Weiqiang, Programme Leader of the Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education.
The three students devoted extensive time to preparing for the competition. Through case analysis, financial modelling, workshops, and simulation exercises, they engaged in continuous trial and error to refine their strategies, developing efficient decision-making processes while enhancing their problem-solving and innovation skills.
In the finals, the EdUHK team demonstrated exceptional strategic thinking and adaptability by making a series of precise business decisions within a simulated enterprise management system to navigate dynamic market challenges.
Team leader Mr Yang Shanglin said, “Our victory owes to the hard work of my teammates and the support from our MA(PFE) Programme. During the preparations, our Programme organised several preparation workshops for us. We also learned a great deal from our mentors during the training. This experience has been invaluable.”
EdUHK’s Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education Programme is the first of its kind in Hong Kong, designed to equip students with professional knowledge in both personal financial planning and corporate finance. Graduates of the programme meet the education requirements for Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification in Hong Kong, with exemptions from three education courses and one foundation-level examination, paving a clear career path for aspiring financial professionals.
This outstanding achievement not only demonstrates EdUHK students’ dual expertise in personal financial planning and corporate finance and management, but also reflects the programme’s emphasis on integrating theory with practice. The programme will continue to encourage students to step beyond the classroom, embrace business challenges, and gain valuable experience for future career development.
