EdUHK Students Win Bronze! Congratulations to Our Two Team Table Tennis Olympians

Congratulations to Doo Hoi-kem and Lee Ho-ching on winning the Bronze Medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the women's team table tennis.

Doo and Lee, students of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), together with their team member Minnie Soo, clinched Hong Kong’s first ever women's team table tennis medal by beating Germany 3-1 on 5 August 2021. It also marked Hong Kong’s fourth medal at the Olympics.

President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung commended, “Doo and Lee, together with their teammate Minnie, demonstrated their strong mentality and spirit during the matches. With their perseverance and resilience, they remained strong in managing their studies and sports career. The medal proves that when you are committed to your goal, your hard work will be rewarded.”

“I finally achieved it,” said third-time Olympian Lee. “The Olympics is the dream as well as the biggest event of every athlete. I am grateful for the support from EdUHK and my teammates. As a full-time sportswoman, it was hard to balance studying and training at the same time. The University has given me a lot of flexibility, and I am delighted to be here at EdUHK.”

Student Doo said, “The encouraging message received from the President before the matches was great support for me. We want to study and acquire new knowledge while undergoing trainings. We would like to thank the President and EdUHK for the unfailing support rendered to us.”
