EdUHK Student Li Yan-tung Wins Gold and Breaks Youth World Record

Li Yan-tung, a Year 1 student on the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching programme at The Education University of Hong Kong, won a gold medal in the Line Throw (Female Youth) event at the 2022 Lifesaving World Championships on 30 September. 


Li and her partner Ching Oi-ki set a new youth world record with a time of 12.40s in the preliminary round. They defeated opponents from Switzerland and Czechia in the final, becoming world youth champions. 


The International Life Saving Federation organises the Lifesaving World Championships every two years. This year, the Championships were in Italy between 21 September and 2 October.
