EdUHK holds Government Career Fair 2025
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the Government Career Fair 2025 on its Tai Po campus, on 3 October. Co-organised by Career Development Services of the Student Affairs Office and the Civil Service Bureau, the fair served as a platform for EdUHK students to connect with various Hong Kong government bureaus and departments, encouraging aspiring young people to pursue a career in public service.
The fair featured 16 interactive booths hosted by different government bureaus and departments, showcasing over 30 civil service positions, providing interviews, written tests, and consultation on CV writing. More than 850 EdUHK students participated, to explore a wide range of career opportunities offered by the government, including five civil service degree-level positions (i.e. Administrative Officer, Executive Officer II, Assistant Labour Officer II, Assistant Trade Officer II and Management Services Officer II). The fair helped students gain a deeper understanding of how government departments operate and their vital role in society.
To enhance students’ understanding of public sector work, the Hong Kong Police Force, Civil Service Bureau and Home Affairs Department hosted three recruitment talks. These talks introduced departmental duties, recruitment procedures, and career advancement pathways, with current civil servants sharing their personal experiences. Students gained valuable insight into the path to becoming a civil servant, as well as the challenges involved.
Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho, Dean of Students, officiated at the fair. In his welcome address, he said, “This fair represents a tangible extension of our 'Education Futures, Diverse Talents' goal. It offers students a unique opportunity to explore government career paths and professional development, while inspiring them to actively participate in public affairs and contribute to the development and harmony of Hong Kong.”
In looking ahead, Professor Yeung said the Student Affairs Office planned to launch a comprehensive ‘Public Sector Career Series’ over the next year. These will include recruitment talks, alumni talks and workshops for government recruitment tests, providing students with comprehensive career guidance to help them map out their career journeys.
