Dr Hou Wai-kai Delivers RGC Public Lecture on Psychological Health under the Pandemic

Dr Hou Wai-kai, Director of Centre for Psychosocial Health and Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology, The Education University of Hong Kong, has been invited by the Research Grants Council (RGC) to deliver a public lecture entitled ‘Useful Knowledge on Resilience and Psychological Health under the Pandemic’ on 9 October 2022.

From school closures for primary and secondary school students, to alternative work arrangements and adverse circumstances such as working from home, leave, and even unemployment, COVID-19 has seemingly wreaked havoc on the daily lives of people from various backgrounds. Dr Hou and his research team have conducted a series of population-representative studies to show disruption to daily routines is an important factor that causes psychological distress and is often associated with the development of anxiety and depression.

In the public lecture, Dr Hou will elaborate on his research findings and make recommendations for all walks of life to help enhance their mental health and well-being.

RGC public lectures aim to arouse public interest in local research developments. Since 2009, it has invited numerous leading scholars to introduce their research and achievements to the public. For details, please visit here
