The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and Seoul National University of Education (SNUE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17 June 2026 at EdUHK, marking the formal establishment of a strategic partnership between the two leading teacher education institutions. The MoU was signed by Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK, and Professor Jang Shin Ho, President of SNUE. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in EdUHK’s ongoing efforts to consolidate and expand its academic network in South Korea and across the Northeast Asian region.

SNUE is one of Korea’s leading institutions for teacher education, renowned for its excellence in pre-service and in-service teacher training, educational innovation, and academic research. The 45-member delegation, led by President Jang, comprised the Vice President, Deans, and scholars across key academic disciplines. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration and foster substantive academic exchange. Distinguished guests attending the signing ceremony included Professor May Cheng May-hung, Vice President (Academic) of EdUHK; Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, Assistant Vice President (Research); Professor Lee Kwai-sang, Acting Director of the Global Affairs Office; and Dr Lee Ju Seong, Associate Head of the Department of English Language Education.

In his remarks, President Lee highlighted the shared mission of both universities in nurturing outstanding educators, expressing confidence that the partnership would generate fruitful outcomes in student and faculty exchange, collaborative research, curriculum development, and talent cultivation. President Jang noted that the signing coincides with SNUE’s 80th anniversary, underscoring its symbolic significance in this commemorative year.

During the visit, the SNUE delegation toured EdUHK’s smart learning and teaching facilities, gaining insights into the University’s pedagogical innovation and digital education strategies. The engagement further consolidated the foundation for future collaboration in education development and talent training.

Building on years of close academic ties through conferences and seminars, the MoU establishes a sustainable platform for long-term cooperation. As the partnership deepens, EdUHK will continue to expand its academic network in Korea and across Northeast Asia, enhancing its regional influence and contributing to the global education ecosystem.
