23M006 - The Transparent Fish Specimen 
(FULL)

The double-stained transparent fish specimen production is a common technique in science and STEM education. It is, however, not commonly practiced in the local secondary schools due to the technical and logistical requirements. This workshop provides participants with experience in the preparation of the fish specimen. The content of the workshop includes the preparation of fish samples, and the staining procedures by various chemicals. The participants would be offered a pre-made specimens as souvenir.

23M008 - Upcycling Waste Residuals from Environmental Facilities into Value-added Eco-products

The programme aims to enhance participants' knowledge of current technologies for the reuse and recycling of residual waste by introducing key concepts and examining local practices and recent research. Waste sludges (i.e. sewage sludge and alum sludge) and combustion by-products (i.e. bottom ash, fly ash and sewage sludge ash) collected from water and wastewater treatment plants, coal-fired power plants and incineration processes are recycled and transformed into value-added eco-products that meet technical and environmental standards.

Hands-on STEM-related tasks will be given, in which senior primary students (P4-P6) will explore the making of home-made toy through design and problem-solving process. Through this activity, students will experience the fun of using everyday materials to create own products.
