The New MSocSc(EP) Programme is Recognized by the DEP of the HKPS

Great news! The new MSocSc(EP) Programme is recognized by the Division of Educational Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society

The Department of Psychology is excited to announce that the newly developed Master of Social Sciences in Educational Psychology (Two‑year Full‑time) [MSocSc(EP)] programme at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has been officially recognized by the Division of Educational Psychology (DEP) of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS). MSocSc(EP) is a new UGC-Funded Taught Postgraduate programme designed to provide training and instruction in the field of Educational Psychology with the ultimate goal of training professional Educational Psychologists who can practice in Hong Kong, China. The programme aims to cover core professional roles and functions of EPs in the local context, including but not limit to, managing cases involving learning and behavioural-emotional issues which require assessment and intervention, providing advice to teachers on the development and implementation of developmental/ preventive/remedial intervention programmes, designing, and conducting training programmes for school staff and parents, and conducting research projects. The programme adopts a scientist-practitioner model which emphasises the synergistic value of academic studies, research, and practical experience.

Endorsement by the HKPS DEP affirms that the MSocSc(EP) curriculum meets the professional standards of training of Educational Psychologists. Graduates of the program will fulfill HKPS DEP’s membership criteria.
