Aims & OutcomesThe Minor of English Language gives students opportunities to explore the English language and also to acquaint themselves with some of its associated cultures through the various linguistics and literature courses offered. Those who graduate with English Language as a Minor will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge about how the English language can be analysed and about how it is used to communicate in social, cultural and/or professional contexts.

Pre-requisite Requirements and Other Conditions for Claiming a MinorAlthough no pre-requisite requirements are imposed, students should be aware that a threshold level of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.0 or above, or HKDSE English Language Level 3 or above) is expected for successful completion of the courses offered in this Minor.

Remarks
  • All Minors will not lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Neither teaching practice nor immersion will be arranged.

  • The Minor is housed within and managed by BEd(EL) under the current management structure.
  • Any aspect of the course and course offerings (including, without limitation, the content of the Course and the manner in which the Course is taught) may be subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of the University.
