Beyond Four Walls: My Journey as a Junior Health/Sport Tech Analyst

During summer 2025, I had the opportunity to complete my internship as a Junior Health/Sport Tech Analyst at AESIR through The Education University of Hong Kong’s internship programme. This 200-hour experience was fruitful and valuable in shaping my professional journey and expanding my skillset in ways I never imagined.

The programme I am studying, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies and Digital Communication, aligned well with my internship responsibilities, which allowed me to apply the skills I gained through my courses in meaningful ways. For instance, the research skills developed through academic essay writing proved beneficial when gathering materials for client proposals, enabling me to efficiently evaluate sources and synthesise findings into concrete insights. Moreover, the digital literacy abilities developed helped me to quickly adapt to professional platforms, from proposal design software to data visualisation tools.

My most valuable discovery during the internship was recognising how to tailor communication to different audiences. For example, when creating proposal decks for schools, it was necessary to emphasise pedagogical benefits, whereas corporate clients preferred efficiency-focused language. In addition, I had numerous opportunities to present our ideas to clients. These experiences helped me articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively and gain confidence in presenting to diverse audiences. I also attended multiple field trips and client meetings, which gave me invaluable real-world exposure to how businesses operate beyond the office. 

Overall, this internship prepared me well for the future profession I plan on pursuing, which is either in the technology communications or corporate business. I am deeply grateful to AESIR for fostering an environment of learning and growth, and to my supervisor and mentor who invested their time in developing my skills and helping me navigate new challenges.
