On 16 November 2025, Dr Choy Yat-ling Elaine, Senior Lecturer II in the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong, delivered an engaging and insightful talk at Tiu Keng Leng Public Library as part of the Hong Kong Public Libraries’ ‘Meet the Authors 2025’ series. Titled ‘Life’s Palette: Writing Joyful Moments’, the free Cantonese session drew a full audience of readers, parents, educators, and writing enthusiasts.
Dr Choy shared her creative journey and introduced her acclaimed Worry Leo picture-book series, including Worry Leo and Magic Bunny (2023), Worry Leo and Mr Crab (2024), and We are from Heart Link Village (2023). Through these heart-warming stories, she illustrated how gentle narratives can help children address worries, cope with illness, and foster emotional resilience. Dr Choy explored paths to resilience, echoing themes from her scholarly work, including Teaching ‘Journey to the West’ to Enhance Students' Positive Psychological Outcomes (2023) and studies on the Satir Model's application in fostering well-being.
A recipient of The Education University of Hong Kong's 2023/24 Faculty Teaching Award and a winner in the ‘Imagine Your Future - Startup Writer Publication Funding Scheme’, Dr Choy also introduced her innovative board game Braving the Misty Forest. Attendees engaged in vibrant discussions, leaving with fresh insights on harnessing life's experiences for authentic expression. The session celebrated Dr Choy's contributions while reinforcing the event's core message: writing as a joyful palette of memory and imagination.
