Samuel Getnet Abate has teaching and research experiences in Ethiopia. He has conducted independent and team-based institutional research and published a number of articles in peer-reviewed international journals in the areas of adult education, teacher attitude, and teacher collaboration. He has contributed as a peer reviewer for some international reputable journals. He has also worked as a Coordinator of Research and Publication Office of the College of Education, University of Gondar. Currently he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Policy and Leadership at the Faculty of Education and Human Development, EdUHK. His research focuses on teacher collaboration.

Zeeshan Ahmad is a PhD student at the Department of Education Policy and Leadership. He is an educationist and researcher holding an MPhil in Education and a BS in Gender Studies from Pakistan, receiving Gold Medals for both degrees. With over 13+ years of diverse experience in the education sector across teaching, educational leadership, research, and training, he has presented his research at several international conferences, co-authored an Elsevier book chapter, supervised undergraduate research, and actively contributed to youth and community development initiatives. His current doctoral research investigates gender bias in AI-powered educational tools to promote equitable and inclusive education. Outside academia, he enjoys exploring new places and experiencing diverse cultures.

I obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hong Kong. After graduation, I worked as a Research Assistant I at the Education University of Hong Kong, where I engaged in diverse research-related activities that honed my research skills. These invaluable experiences fueled my passion for neuroscience, particularly in investigating the brain mechanisms underlying various cognitive functions (e.g., executive function). Wening Cahyawulan is a PhD student at the Department of Special Education and Counselling. She graduated from the State University of Jakarta, Indonesia, majoring in Guidance and Counselling for her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. CAI Qiuyun is currently an M.Phil. student in the ECE Department. She received her master’s degree in Chinese Linguistics and Language Acquisition at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature at Sun Yat-sen University. She worked as a research assistant at the CUHK and the City University of Hong Kong from 2019 to 2022 on a number of research projects in the early language development of monolingual and multilingual children, first language acquisition, and parent-child input-outcome relationships.

CAO Thi Xuan Lien is a PhD student in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to her doctoral studies, she spent 13 years as an EFL lecturer and a teacher trainer at the Faculty of English, University of Foreign Languages and International Studies, Hue University, Vietnam. She holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching from Hue University and a Master's degree in TESOL from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master’s degree in Education (Higher Education) and completed my Bachelor’s degree at IOE, University College London. Throughout my previous higher education journey, I have been especially eager to explore the well-being of social and ethnic minority students in higher education. This passion led me to work with various United Nations organizations, such as UNDP, UNFPA, and UNHCR. I am also a co-research assistant in the UCL BAME awarding gap project, where I conducted research on the well-being of ethnic minority students in UK higher education, providing actionable policy suggestions for enhancing inclusivity.

Xinyi Dong is pursuing research in educational neuroscience, focusing on the effects of digital media use on preschool children’s cognitive and emotional development. She combines behavioural experiments, fNIRS, and educational psychology to explore how technology exposure, parental involvement, and learning environments influence early development. Hi! My name is Hinako Kojima. I’m a first-year PhD student at the Education University of Hong Kong, fully funded by the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). I hold a First-Class BSocSc degree in Psychology & Neuroscience from the University of Hong Kong, and an MSc degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from University College London. My primary research interest is the intricate relationship between sleep and mental health. In my doctoral studies, I plan to focus on the role of napping for individuals experiencing subclinical insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

With a background in psychology and education, Echo has previously worked as a senior research assistant on longitudinal projects tracking child developmental trajectories in early stages and exploring how school and family factors impact child development. Through extensive experience conducting classroom observations in Hong Kong kindergartens using well-established assessment tools, she developed a research interest in evaluating early childhood education(ECE) programs. Currently pursuing a PhD in Early Childhood Education, her research focuses on evaluating ECE program quality (e.g., teacher-child interactions, classroom environment, and pedagogy) and its association with child development across key domains. She is a certified observer for several assessment tools, including the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R and ECERS-E). Echo also conducts validation studies of Western-developed assessment tools in the Hong Kong context.

I am Liu Danqing, who obtained a Master's degree from Shanghai Normal University in 2025. During my studies, I joined the university's Preschool Neurocognitive Study Lab as an assistant researcher, participating in multiple studies.

My research focuses on reading development, with a particular interest in the role of morphemes in orthographic learning and the transfer of linguistic knowledge among bilingual children. I have over seven years of experience as a teacher in both China and Australia. I am passionate about exploring effective ways to support children’s reading and language development in different settings.

Xingzhou is a Ph.D. student in PS. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from City University of Hong Kong. Prior to pursuing his doctoral degree, he worked as a Research Assistant for over 4 years in Hong Kong. His previous research focused on the psychosocial well-being and development of children and adolescents. At present, his research interest primarily lies in the field of cyberbullying. Zhao Yifeng (Austin) is a PhD student in the Department of Education Policy and Leadership at The Education University of Hong Kong. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and a bachelor’s degree from Beijing Normal University. Before joining EdUHK, he worked as a research assistant at HKU and as a project associate at the Educational Development Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he supported a cross-institutional research project on generative AI in teaching and assessment. His research focuses on higher education policy and practice, assessment and evaluation, and emerging technologies in education.

I am a PhD student in the ECE department. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Zhengzhou University, majoring in Education and minoring in Psychology, and my two master’s degrees are in Principles of Education from Northeast Normal University and Early Childhood Education from The Education University of Hong Kong. Before pursuing my PhD, I have been a kindergarten teacher for two years and a college teacher for three years.
My learning and working experience have taught me that early childhood is a critical period for child’s character formation and growth. This is the major reason why I want to study about child development and explore the relationship between child development and family factors. Besides, I enjoy exercising, traveling, drawing, and watching TV series in my spare time.

I am from Fujian, China and hold a Master’s degree in Basic Psychology from Shenzhen University. My research examines the neural mechanisms that support language acquisition and comprehension in both natural communication and programming languages. Through the use of EEG, fMRI, and computational modelling, I investigate how children and adults learn novel linguistic systems and how these processes interact with cognitive control, emotion regulation, and self-concept.

ZHOU Yuwei graduated with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from Nanjing Normal University. She was an intern in a kindergarten and the BabyBus education company. These experiences fueled her with the passion for researching on the psycho-social health development of children.
She is currently researching on the interpersonal processes relevant to health and well-being in a close relationship in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Psychology. Her research interest is on the influences of social media dependency on cognitive functioning and well-being. Apart from academic work, she loves reading and hiking.
