The recent rise in mental health challenges among tertiary students threatens their well-being, personal growth and academic success. Acknowledging the need for supporting students' mental health, the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment through strengthening staff capacity to respond to students' mental health needs, encouraging the development of a positive mindset, and building strong peer support networks.

The Faculty organises a range of activities to cultivate mental resilience, including De-stressing workshops, the Caring Ambassador Scheme, and mental health training. The activities are open to all FEHD students and staff.
Since the 2023/24 academic year, FEHD has launched the Caring Ambassador Scheme. The Scheme aims to build a strong peer support network and nurture a culture of care and compassion. Students were invited to serve as ambassadors who promote mental wellness and take an active role in organising related events and activities for their peers on campus.
Participating actively and passionately in activities and training including:
Training / Briefing sessions will be provided for Ambassadors.
Build interpersonal and social skills through real engagement.
Develop leadership qualities and a sense of community responsibility.
Form lasting friendships and a strong peer support network.
This Caring Ambassador Scheme is truly meaningful. It helps spread positive messages and also broadens my social circle, allowing me to get to know different classmates.
As the FEHD Caring Ambassador for two academic years, I have developed valuable mental health skills, particularly in learning how to care for myself and support others. By assisting in mental health workshops and conducting class visits, I deepened my sense of belonging to the Faculty and felt proud to be making meaningful contributions to both FEHD and EdUHK.
I am deeply grateful to have been appointed as a Caring Ambassador. This role has given me the opportunity to serve my peers by organising meaningful activities that promote positive mental health messages and help reduce stress. I feel truly honoured to contribute to creating a more supportive and balanced school environment.
This is my second time serving as a Caring Ambassador, and it has been truly heartwarming and rewarding. The team genuinely wanted to support our fellow students, from planning cheer-up packages to running our booths. I especially remember setting up the positivity board and handing out warm drinks.
Overall, I am grateful for the chance to contribute to our student community. Thank you to the faculty for this wonderful opportunity.
