Dr Maxwell Ho wins the Emerald Young Researcher Award

2022-02-10

EPL’s Dr Maxwell Ho has been awarded the Emerald Young Researcher Award 2021. The award recognises his contribution to research and practice, as well as its impact on Hong Kong’s schools.

Dr Ho’s win can be credited to training programmes he organised for school middle leaders. The programmes gave teachers a way to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their schools, and so allowed them to formulate feasible and effective improvement initiatives.

Dr Ho and his mentors also ran a leadership learning project for 39 primary and secondary schools between 2020-22. It aimed to train and nurture school leaders with entrepreneurial and service mindset.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my mentors and project members, Dr Darren Bryant, Dr Lu Jiafang, and Prof Allan Walker, for the continuous support of related research and programmes, as well as their generosity, motivation, and immense knowledge,” Dr Ho said.

“Their guidance helped me to stay focused on bringing research into practice. Their humble manner inspired and made this educational journey towards scholarship an exciting and meaningful experience for me.”

The Emerald Young Researcher Award was organised by Emerald in East Asia and New Asian Tigers region. The regional award honoured six young researchers from 15 Asian countries and regions who demonstrated originality and contribution in research and practice, and made impact on the society.

As the award illustrates, FEHD provides a broad range of support and resources to our faculty members in different career stages. By supporting the professional development of teachers, principals, and educators in Hong Kong, we seek to take education leadership to the NEXT LEVEL.
