FEHD introduce early childhood education programme online

2019-12-13

FEHD’s second online programme intro features the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education and Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Dr Sam Cheung, Programme Leader of the BEd programme, together with two graduates, Fa and Lok, introduced the admission requirement, career prospects, and learning experience of the programmes to prospective students.

Aiming to nurture competent and caring early childhood educators, the programmes emphasize integration of professional knowledge and practical abilities. “Both programmes offer block practice opportunities to students, allowing them to put knowledge and skills learnt in classrooms into practice,” said Dr Cheung. “Graduates are qualified for registration with the Education Bureau and Social Welfare Department to teach in licensed early childhood settings in Hong Kong.”

“It is important to equip yourself during your study in university,” said Fa, who shared her summer exchange experience. “Our programme offers exchange programmes to different countries around the world. I went to UK and the Netherlands and visited local kindergartens. I also had the opportunity to interact with teachers over there,” said Fa.

All applicants will be invited to attend an admission interview, which consists two parts -- self-introduction and group discussion. Lok offered interview advice to prospective students. “You have to prepare for three aspects for your self-introduction: your background, interests, and most important, why you choose early childhood education.”

Dr Cheung also encourage students to participate in volunteer work related to children. “You could access your own suitability to early childhood education in this way,” said Dr Cheung.

We are devoted to foster students to be inspiring early childhood educators who take the younger generation to the Next Level.
