Dr. Xiong Xibei, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education of Guangxi Normal University (GXNU), led a research team of five faculty members on an academic visit to the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) from June 24 to June 25. This visit, hosted by EdUHK, expressed appreciation for GXNU's past support and underscored a commitment to ongoing collaboration.
Professor Lim Cher Ping, Chair Professor of Learning Technologies and Innovation at EdUHK, warmly welcomed the GXNU team and introduced the background of the collaborative project titled "Technology-Enabled Futures of Education: Harnessing Emerging Technologies to Enhance Education Equity, Quality, and Efficiency", emphasizing the importance of this partnership and the mutual desire for continued cooperation.
A significant milestone in this project was the pilot study led by Dr. Li Yixun, "How ICT Technology Can Support Linguistic Minority Students in Primary School", which was successfully conducted in Guilin with GXNU's support in June. Dr. Li Yixun presented data collected through interviews, class observations, and other methods from schools in Guangxi. The GXNU team, serving as external consultants, actively engaged in discussions and analyses of the data, focusing on the effectiveness of ICT in enhancing primary education for linguistic minority students in Guangxi Province. During the meeting, they also identified local challenges related to education quality, equity, and efficiency, providing direction for future research.
During their visit, the GXNU delegation also toured the Mong Man Wai Library. They were introduced to distinguished future classrooms, such as the Creative Lab, e-Learning Studio, Extended Reality Room, and STEM Room, where they experienced innovative teaching and learning facilities such as VR glasses and 3D printers.
The visit was highly productive, strengthening the bonds between the two universities. This visit marks a significant step towards deeper academic collaborations and mutual support, paving the way for educational advancements for minority communities in Guangxi and beyond.
