2026-03-26

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has reached new heights in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2026, released on 25 March 2026. EdUHK has risen to 7th place globally in the field of Education, marking its highest position in recent years with a remarkable jump of five places from 12th in 2025.

In addition, EdUHK ranked 2nd in Asia, maintaining its position among the top five in the region for an impressive 12 consecutive years since 2015.

In the 2026 exercise, the QS team evaluated the academic reputation and research performance of more than 5,200 institutions worldwide. EdUHK’s continued rise in the rankings reflects its sustained academic excellence, strong research impact, and growing global influence.

This outstanding achievement demonstrates the steadfast commitment of the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) to advancing educational innovation and producing impactful research on the international stage.

“We are delighted to celebrate this historic achievement, which places us among the global leaders in education,” said Professor Bruce Macfarlane, Dean of FEHD. “This ranking is a powerful testament to the dedication of our Faculty, staff, and students. Their commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence continues to drive our mission forward. We remain determined to stay at the forefront of educational development, addressing evolving societal needs through interdisciplinary research and strong global partnerships.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on key indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, H-index, and International Research Network, reflecting the overall strength and influence of an institution’s academic and research contributions.

This latest recognition reaffirms FEHD’s position as a leading institution in education, both regionally and globally, and provides a strong foundation for continued advancement in teaching, research, and community engagement. To celebrate this shared success, the Faculty held a gathering with staff on 26 March 2026 to recognise the achievement.

Looking ahead, FEHD will continue to push boundaries by integrating technology into education, strengthening international collaboration, and pioneering innovative solutions to pressing educational and societal challenges.
