EPL hosted Dr Ian Hardy from The University of Queensland for an academic visit from 26 April to 3 May 2026, as part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to promote international academic exchange and research collaboration.
During the visit, Dr Hardy delivered a seminar entitled “Internationalisation in Retreat? An Australian Perspective on the Geopolitics of International Student Mobility” on 27 April, chaired by Dr Jason Lin. The seminar examined current developments in international student mobility and their broader geopolitical implications.
On 28 April, Dr Hardy conducted a workshop titled “Beyond Global Discourses of Data: Contextualising Care in Schooling”, co‑facilitated with Dr Jason Lin and Dr Tina Gao of the Department. The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to engage in critical discussion on global educational discourses and their contextual application in schooling.
In addition, individual research consultations were held on 29 April, during which Dr Hardy met with research students and academic colleagues at EdUHK to exchange research insights and discuss ongoing and future work. The sessions were well attended and marked by active participation.
Dr Hardy expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and collegial academic environment at EdUHK, and indicated his interest in maintaining connections and exploring potential future collaboration with staff and students of the Department.
