I am trained in translation studies. My research intersects history, literary studies, cultural studies and Chinese studies. My recent work engages network analysis and text mining tools in the paradigm of digital humanities.
I am always passionate about the language and thought in early modern periodicals. My forthcoming monograph traces the nascent knowledge about the cinema in Chinese periodical press in the late 19th and early 20th century. My on-going collaborative project on global Lingnan culture examines the transpacific cultural enterprise of Cantonese bilinguals in the 1800s, with a focus on their bilingual lexicons and newspapers. I will be glad to supervise theses which share my interest and method.
