From 30 April to 7 May 2025, Ms Bibi Tayyaba, Lecturer from the Department of English Language Education, organised an enriching study tour to Malaysia. The tour group, comprising 16 students, embarked on a journey that took them through the vibrant cities of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Penang, offering a unique blend of cultural experiences.
During the first four days of the tour, the group was warmly hosted by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). The experience was intellectually stimulating and socially engaging, as the students connected with their peers from the Faculty of Education at IIUM. Together, they explored iconic sites such as the Batu Caves, Putrajaya Mosque, Petronas Twin Towers, and the Islamic Art Museum.
One of the highlights was the Cultural Night held in the Faculty courtyard, where they indulged in the local delicacy, durians. The students also enjoyed a student-led campus tour, which provided insights into IIUM's vibrant academic environment. They were honoured to have Associate Professor Dr Suhailah Hussien delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the Malaysian education system and teacher education initiatives.
After their memorable stay in Kuala Lumpur, the group ventured to Penang, where they explored the UNESCO World Heritage site of George Town. The city’s vibrant murals and creative street art and the breathtaking Kek Lok Si Temple left a lasting impression. A trip to Penang Hill offered panoramic views that beautifully showcased the island’s natural beauty.
Overall, this trip was a remarkable blend of education, culture, and friendship. The students returned not only with beautiful memories but also with a deeper understanding of the diverse tapestry of Asian culture.
