Organised by the Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture of the Faculty of Humanities at The Education University of Hong Kong and funded by the Tai Po Home Affairs Department, the ‘Tai Po Literary Trail’ has been successfully completed, culminating in the official publication of the anthology ‘大埔文縱’. The book is divided into two volumes: the first one, focusing on ‘Geography and Humanity’, was published in May 2025, while the second, covering ‘Arts and Literature’, will be published in due time. It uses a literary perspective to investigate Tai Po’s regional history, folklore, and cultural landmarks while tracing the development of Tai Po’s literature and culture.
The publication aims to promote the concept of ‘Tai Po Literature’, enhance community culture and tourism, and embody the spirit of ‘co-creation’. The project invited over 10 scholars and cultural figures with close ties to Tai Po to contribute articles and selected works from 80 authors, collectively forming a literary landscape that spans a century.
‘大埔文縱’ not only documents Tai Po's historical legends and folk stories but also delves into its cultural heritage and developmental trajectory. The book thoughtfully examines the interplay between local culture and literature through focused explorations of significant institutions. This publication offers readers a window into the literary and cultural essence of Tai Po, allowing more people to experience the charm and humanity of this unique region.
