Wonderful School Visits and Learning Opportunities in Professional Development Programmes for English Teachers

EdUHK has a long tradition of offering a wide range of Professional Development Programmes (PDPs) for in-service teachers in Hong Kong. This year, thanks to the kindness of the principals from Kornhill Victoria Kindergarten, Fairchild Nursery & Kindergarten, and North Point Methodist Primary School, teacher participants in the PDPs for Primary Teachers of English (1 week), Cohort 3, had the opportunity to conduct three on-site visits and engage in professional exchange. This is in addition to the input from expert-led sessions and young learners’ transition workshops at EdUHK’s brand new North Point Campus. These inspiring visits aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of ways to facilitate a smooth transition between kindergarten and primary education. They went beyond immersing participants in kindergarten and primary one classrooms. The participants were invited to sit next to the very young learners to observe and taste dynamic teaching techniques and gain fresh insights from experienced and professional front-line educators. Furthermore, these visits facilitated connections among our participants, principals and teachers from the three kindergartens and primary schools. Participants had the chance to share experiences, exchange effective teaching ideas, and build lasting professional relationships during this transformative journey.
