During the second half of 2020, four volumes of the Compendium of Hong Kong Literature 1950-1969, a research and publication project of the Research Centre for Chinese Literacy and Literature (RCCLLC), have been published by the Commercial Press. They are Modern Poetry I (Editor: Dr Chan Chi Tak); Modern Poetry II (Editors: Mr Cheng Ching Hang and Mr Yip Fei); Chinese Opera (Editor: Professor Leung Bo Wah) and Lyrics (Editors: Professor Stephen Chu Yiu Wai, Mr Wong Chi Wah, Dr Janet Lo Wai Han and Dr Stephanie Ng Yuet Wah).
In view of the development of the situation of COVID-19, the talk of Compendium of Hong Kong Literature in Hong Kong Book Fair has been cancelled. RCCLLC has instead produced a series of videos introducing the above-mentioned first four volumes of the Compendium of Hong Kong Literature 1950-1969 by inviting our editors, including Professor Leonard Chan Kwok Kou, the editor-in-chief of the Compendium, to put the text into context. Through the videos, it is hoped that readers could understand more about the editorial direction and appreciate the work of Hong Kong literature and culture from that period more readily. The video clips have been uploaded to our YouTube channel called “RCCLLC”.
