The Faculty of Humanities (FHM) successfully hosted its much-anticipated 'Humanities Can!' Launch Event on 15 July 2025 at the Tai Po Campus. The event marked a significant milestone in FHM's branding journey, showcasing the Faculty's commitment to demonstrating how humanities can make a meaningful difference in today's technology-driven society.

FHM Dean Prof John Erni opened the event with an inspiring welcome speech, followed by a spectacular kick-off ceremony featuring a specially designed 'Humanities Can!' logo light installation. Attendees were then treated to the premiere of FHM's new branding video, which eloquently captured the Faculty's vision and impact. Distinguished alumnus Dr Leung Chi-hin Michael, Assistant Professor at the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, shared valuable insights on the topic ‘Everyone Can Make Music’. The event also featured a captivating musical performance that highlighted the artistic talents from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts.

Meanwhile, a stunning sculpture crafted from over 300 colourful cans drew significant attention, as did the interactive claw machine offering special souvenirs for participants. The event concluded with refreshments and networking, providing an opportunity for meaningful conversations among faculty members, alumni, students, and distinguished guests.

We eagerly anticipate our continued journey together as we explore the boundless potential of humanities education and research, working collaboratively towards a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future!

Concept of FHM 'Humanities Can!' Logo

The Chinese character "人" is reimagined using traditional calligraphy strokes, blending the aesthetics of brushwork to evoke both tradition and dynamism. This calligraphic "人" is integrated with the cursive letter "H" , where the left stroke of the "H" subtly morphs into the left stroke of "人", symbolizing the unity between Western and Chinese concepts of humanities and people.

Meanwhile, the left and right strokes of  "人" subtly extend to form part of the infinity symbol (∞), visually emphasizing the limitless nature of humanities.
