Crafting Your Unique Story

Ms Kwok Siuling Esther

Master of Arts in Chinese Studies (Language Education) (2017)

Out of love for children, I've dedicated 37 years to early childhood education, finding genuine joy in every moment spent with them. My passion for literature eventually led me, at age 56, to make a bold transition—from a creche principal carrying significant responsibilities to an eager new student.

Master of Arts in Chinese Studies (Language Education) represented uncharted academic territory for me. Conscious of my limited foundation, I entered with humble expectations, hoping to expand my knowledge even slightly. What I discovered instead was transformative: erudite professors not only welcomed me into literature's magnificent world but imparted profound wisdom—that academic inquiry demands unwavering commitment to truth; that appreciating works means looking beyond surface beauty to explore the deeper human emotions within; and that words carry heart-warming power we should harness to create a more beautiful world. I'm deeply grateful for their guidance and encouragement, which enabled me to graduate with honours and continue auditing classes for eight fulfilling years.

Post-graduation, I had the privilege of joining EdUHK’s ‘Projects in Celebration of the 100th Birthday of Dr Tin Ka Ping’, developing moral education curricula and supporting their implementation in preschools. More recently, I helped organise the programme's inaugural high table dinner, bringing together graduates across multiple cohorts and our respected teachers to celebrate the programme's achievements.

I firmly believe that regardless of age or academic background, wholehearted commitment to learning can help anyone write an extraordinary new chapter. Today, I continue my learning journey, and I couldn't be happier!
