A Journey of Growth and Inspiration at EdUHK
Mr Leung Chi San Nelson
BEd (English Language) (2016)
My four years at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) were among the most transformative years of my life. During this time, I discovered my passion for teaching, met like-minded friends, and equipped myself with diverse teaching strategies to face future challenges.
One of the most unforgettable experiences was a 10-week immersion programme in the UK. This opportunity deepened my understanding of cross-cultural differences and allowed me to observe the contrasts between Hong Kong’s education system and others. The experience helped me broaden my perspective and refine my approach, making me a more well-rounded educator.
After graduating, I quickly secured my first job at the school where I completed my field experience. This smooth transition was thanks to the practical teaching methods I learned at EdUHK and the well-structured field experience programme, which gave both the school and me ample time to adapt. Today, I continue to work at the same institution, a testament to the strong foundation EdUHK provided.
I have also pursued continuous professional development, attending courses and workshops to stay updated on the latest teaching trends. EdUHK’s dedicated teaching staff left a lasting impact on me; their genuine passion for teaching and their shared experiences have greatly influenced my own teaching style.
I hope more passionate young people will join the education field. During their time at EdUHK, they should carefully observe their professors’ teaching methods, absorb as much as they can, and seize every teaching opportunity to discover their own teaching approach. By creating lessons that reflect their unique style, they will find the sense of achievement that drives them forward.
As a mentor teacher today, I guide the next generation of EdUHK students, hoping to inspire more passionate young people to pursue excellence in education and carry the torch forward.
