CSENIE wins HK$18M donation

2019-09-10

The Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) received a donation of HK$18M from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust this month. The donation will help support lifelong learning for special education needs school leavers in the coming three years.

Over 3,270 participants, including SEN school leavers, parents, carers and our students, will benefit from CSENIE's project for supporting the lifelong learning opportunities for SEN students in university campus. The project includes course development and implementation, e-learning, knowledge transfer seminars, empirical study, resource development, and training for pre-service teachers, community helpers and parents.

“The project involves university academics, schools and different NGOs. It will help develop successful practices that meet the current service gaps of continuing education and lifelong learning for SEN youths.” Centre Head of CSENIE, Prof Kenneth Sin, said.

He believes that the intelligences and talents of SEN youths will be addressed and further developed by using the course materials.

As this project illustrates, FEHD connects with different parties in the community to help offer education for people with disabilities. By providing lifelong learning opportunities for SEN youths, we will take education-for-all to the Next Level.
