On June 2nd, 2025, a group of students from The Master of Arts in Leading Innovative Learning Organizations (LILO) Programme visited Yuen Long Merchants Associations Secondary School to explore Hong Kong's education system. The warm reception and interactive exchanges from Vice Principal Ms Wong Fung Ming and the relevant course teachers have given them a lot of inspiration and food for thought.
They were intrigued by how the school combined AI and Life and Values Education into its curriculum. The Service Learning course stood out. Here, students interviewed elderly people in nursing homes and have created detailed life story booklets that deeply move readers. They also designed practical items for the elderly, like a medicine box to help those with memory issues remember to take their pills. This course promotes intergenerational communication and cultural heritage while touching on human nature's tender core.
The school also has three innovation labs that encourage students' creativity and entrepreneurship. For instance, environmental education is integrated into AI programming to drive social development.
Although the education systems of Hong Kong and Mainland China are different, there are many aspects of their philosophies and practices that are worth learning from. They have benefited a lot, and this has injected new energy into their future educational work.
Lastly, the students sincerely thank the LILO programme for the dedicated planning and coordination, enabling the students to successfully complete this learning journey.
