Research Interests

My research agenda addresses the most pressing challenges in multilingual education through interconnected streams that bridge theory and practice:

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) & Translanguaging

  • Reconceptualizing CLIL through an organicist-processual lens that views language not as static code but as dynamic, embodied practice
  • Developing Embodied CLIL frameworks that integrate translanguaging and trans-semiotizing pedagogies
  • Investigating spontaneous teacher collaboration in multilingual classrooms with learner diversity

Critical Multilingual Education & Social Justice

  • Exploring how plurilingual CLIL creates spaces for challenging traditional gender ideologies and promoting social equity
  • Examining the intersection of language policy, identity construction, and power relations in educational contexts
  • Advancing critical perspectives on English-medium instruction that center learner agency and cultural responsiveness

AI-Enhanced Language Education

  • Pioneering human-AI collaboration for CLIL instruction and assessment through the development of an AI-supported Dialogue System (ADS)
  • Investigating ethical and sustainable AI applications in healthcare communication training
  • Developing frameworks for teachers as AI developers, democratizing educational technology

Ecological Languaging Competencies (ELC)

  • Co-developing new paradigms for language assessment that move beyond traditional testing approaches
  • Exploring how learners navigate complex multilingual environments through collaborative meaning-making
  • Investigating the role of multimodal resources in academic and professional communication
