English Language Teaching (Primary)

This minor will not be offered from cohort 2023-24 onwards, existing cohort may still complete the minor provided the student have completed the required courses and the exit requirement.

These Minors focus on the teaching of the English language in primary schools (Primary Strand) and the practical issues and strategies involved. They enable students to have an understanding of how English is taught and help learners develop meta-knowledge and meta-cognition of the second language learning processes and strategies, which can be useful to their own English language learning.

These Minors are only offered to undergraduate students in their 3rd year of study or beyond

Exit requirement:

IELTS 6.5 (with no sub-score lower than 6.0) or equivalent

Structure of Minors:

Students opting to take either of the primary or secondary strands have to take 3 core courses and choose 2 elective courses from a list of 9. No double counting is permitted. The core and elective courses are listed below.
