Project Introduction

The HKSAR government have raised the promotion of STEM Education starting from 2015. It seems that STEM Skills and Knowledge have been well-established within these 6 years. Hence some schools are moving from STEM to STEM+ referring to foreign experience. Some researchers emphasized that a good STEM+ framework should contain humanity elements such as caring, creativity to reach the ultimate goal of STEM+: creations contribute to the community. This echoes to Life and Values Education and cultivation of STEM related values and other positive values and attitudes, which tend to be neglected in local STEM development at the moment. To address this educational gap, the Centre for Religious and Spirituality Education of The Education University of Hong Kong intents to launch a pilot project promoting an integration of STEM Education and life and values education.

(Expected) Outcome

1. The school would under project team’s support
i) integrate life and values education into the already developed STEM learning; or
ii) develop a multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary STEM+ learning and teaching activity with values playing a significant role;
2. Participating schools would form a learning circle to share with and learn from each other;
3. Participating schools would disseminate good practices to other schools and the whole education sector.
