Showcasing EdUHK Technologies at InnoCarnival 2023

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) participated in the ‘InnoCarnival 2023’, which was held from October 28 to November 5 at Hong Kong Science Park. Under this year's theme, "Go Smart! Go Tech! Go Green!", EdUHK unveiled its cutting-edge innovation displays and interactive demonstration setups, focusing on experiential learning and Green Technologies (GreenTech), to the public at the EdUHK booth.
 
Funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the EdUHK booth presented a total of eight state-of-the-art EdTech solutions at the event, comprised of two major exhibit zones designed to engage and captivate visitors. The first zone featured Mobile Maker Play Stations which offered young students with hands-on engagement in STEM-related activities. The aim was to promote experiential learning through interactive educational technologies (EdTech). The second zone showcased gamified educational kits and award-winning GreenTech innovations developed by EdUHK. These kits incorporated mobile applications integrated with augmented reality (AR) technology, emphasizing the green living and sustainable development, as well as the importance of hygiene and a healthy diet. Through gamification and interactive elements, students were empowered to enhance their interest and learning experiences in science and technology-related subjects.

During the event, EdUHK showcased the Mobile Maker Play Stations along with videos displayed in a virtual environment learning cave. These videos promoted smart cities highlighting STEM features such as green transport and water flows, and served as a foundation for hands-on workshops that significantly enhanced the experiential learning outcomes. More than 500 young learners participated in the workshops, where they had the opportunity to bridge their experiences with the Mobile Maker Play Stations. This enabled them to establish connections with smart traffic facilities and further deepen their understanding in the field.

In addition, EdUHK’s GreenTech exhibits served successfully as public education platform for various hot topics including sustainable technologies, environmental conservation, life education and other aspects of GreenTech. It provided an opportunity for all visitors to learn and understand how these innovations can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future. We are pleased to receive positive and insightful feedback from visitors (including students in different ages, teachers, educators, parents and general public).

EdUHK's participation in the InnoCarnival 2023 achieved influential outcomes. We provided visitors with enlightening insights to experience the benefits of experiential learning. What’s more, by engaging attendees through dynamic and interactive displays, EdUHK fostered a heightened interest in innovation and technologies, echoing the I&T culture established in HK.
