Dr KANG, Jong Hyuk David

Dr. Jong Hyuk David Kang is a South Korean historian who currently serves as Director of General Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. His scholarly research primarily concentrates on the historical development of Modern Hong Kong and China, with particular emphasis on the cultural exchanges between Eastern and Western societies. His analytical work investigates these intercultural dynamics through the frameworks of religion, medicine, and gender, often emphasizing the evolution of these domains within colonial and post-colonial East Asian contexts.

 

In addition to his historical research, Dr. Kang concentrates on History Education, investigating the application of multimedia tools to reconstruct historical narratives and cultivate historical empathy. He has served as Principal Investigator on various projects, including flipped classroom methodologies in history, STEM-augmented language learning, and the creation of Chinese history animations. His innovative pedagogical approaches have been recognized with the University Grants Council (UGC) Teaching Award.
