In this Knowledge Transfer project, many procedures including topic setting, process of studying and poster design are closely related to the Independence Enquiry Study (IES) of Liberal Studies. But can it be applied to the whole curriculum of the subject? We could say yes on this topic.
We usually study Liberal Studies on the basis of a topic. Students are able to acquire the knowledge and its related basic concepts during the class. When they are studying a topic, they have to set a research topic by themselves and complete a presentation under the guidance of teachers. But sometimes, students just list out information in point form in their Powerpoint presentation. Therefore, using posters for presentations can enhance their organisation and presentation skills, and it’s more creative and challenging.

By using poster in presentations, students are required to think thoroughly how to manage their presentation in limited spaces. Also, peer assessments can be obtained by multiple groups of teachers and students at the same time, giving students a chance to reflect. Students have only 5 minutes to present their own ideas to teachers and students with the aid of their poster. So that they ought to intensify the details in their poster, then summarise the report and carry out evaluation.
In additions, during exams, students with organisation and presentation skills are capable for answering rationally. It is greatly beneficial to their academic results. |
