CLAP@JC Taster gave secondary students a taste of EdUHK life

2022-08-11

FEHD and CLAP@JP project held “CLAP@JC Taster programme” last month to offer secondary students a chance to see what studying at EdUHK is really like.

The event welcomed nearly 50 students and teachers from PLK Wu Chung College, St Paul’s School (Lam Tin), Queen’s College, United Christian College (Kowloon East), and DMHC Siu Ming Catholic Secondary School.

It included tours and workshops which allowed students to learn more about the facilities and undergraduate programmes at the University.

Dr Sammy Hui, Associate Vice President (Student Learning) of EdUHK and Associate Programme Leader of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Heritage Education and Arts Management, introduced the FEHD programmes to the secondary students.

In the taster session of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Heritage Education and Arts Management, students had the chance to create 3D models from photographs of sculptures and artworks at the University's e-Learning Studio. The students also visited the Education and Museum and Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) to learn more about EdUHK's Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Special Education programme and how EdUHK caters to diverse learning and support needs.

Students also visited the Arthur Sammy Language Learning Centre (ASLLC). Dr Albert Lee and Dr Lau Chaak Ming introduced English Studies and Digital Communication by showing how to change the gender of voices and use a Chatbot to simulate human-like conversations.

Prof Sylvia Tang, FEHD’s Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching), encouraged students to think about the three Ps: Programme, Pathway and Passion when choosing a university programme.

The event was supported by the ASLLC and Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies.

Created and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Project CLAP@JC is Hong Kong’s cross-sectoral support platform for career and life development.
