Faculty of Education and Human Development Launches New Strategy (2025-2028)

2025-09-26

On 22 September, the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) proudly launched its new Faculty Strategy 2025-2028. The event brought together around 100 academic and administrative staff, with Prof May Cheng, Vice President (Academic), and Prof Chetwyn Chan, Vice President (Research and Development) joining the event in support of this significant achievement.

Prof Bruce Macfarlane, Dean of FEHD, highlighted the achievements of the previous strategic period (2022-2025). Over the past three years, FEHD reached significant milestones, including ranking 12th globally in education and training (QS World University Rankings 2025), expanding postgraduate programmes, establishing a Virtual Interdisciplinary Research Centre, increasing female representation among full professors, and implementing flexible working practices. Building on these successes, the new strategy demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence, innovation, and impact.

The launch featured a comprehensive presentation from Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and Assistant Registrar on key areas such as education and student experience, research and enterprise, internationalisation and local engagement, and staff and ways of working. Core priorities include integrating AI and advanced learning technologies, enhancing research quality and funding, advancing sustainability, expanding our international presence through student recruitment and partnerships, and deepening our focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. The new Strategy includes key performance indicators to measure the progress toward strategic objectives, identify areas for improvement, and ultimately support our core mission to serve students and society.

The event also included a lively Q&A session moderated by the Dean, where staff actively engaged with leadership and shared their ideas, fostering collaboration and transparency. It concluded with a warm welcome to new staff members, reinforcing FEHD’s inclusive community.

This strategic initiative reflects FEHD’s collective dedication to building a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful future in education and human development, both regionally and internationally.
