Plastic Recycling Codes

Recycling tips:
  • Empty and rinse the plastic bottles before recycling.
  • Sort the waste plastics based on the plastic types (refer to the recycling code).

 

3-color Recycling Bins (paper, plastics and metals)

Recycling tips:

Paper

  • Tear off plastic coated covers.
  • Remove plastic tape, paper clips and other non-paper materials.
  • Keep the waste paper dry.
  • Beverage cartons are NOT acceptable

Plastics

  • Remove the caps and labels.
  • Empty and rinse the plastic bottles/containers.
  • Rubber and silicon products are NOT acceptable.

Metals

  • Empty and rinse the cans/tins before recycling.

Rechargeable Battery Recycling Bins

Location
  • Block B1-G/F (next to Female Toilet B1-G/F-T2)
  • Block D1-G/F

Recycling tip:
  • Cover the battery terminal with masking tape. This is a safety precaution to prevent contact between terminals or other metal surfaces during storage and transport. 

Glass Bottle/Container Recycling Bins

Locations:
  • Block B4-G/F (next to U Deli)
  • Jockey Club Student Quarters (JCSQ)-1/F

Recycling tip:
  • Remove the caps, empty and rinse the bottle/containers before recycling.

Used Clothes Collection Bin (by the Conservancy Association)

Location:
  • Block D4-G/F (outside Female Toilet D4-G/F-T1)

Recycling tips:
  • Launder the clothing items and put them in tied bags before recycling.
  • Used clothing, household linens, stuffed toys, purses and shoes are also acceptable.

Food Waste Collection Bins

Locations:
  • Refuse Room, Operational Staff Quarter
  • Upper Spine Road (outside Grantham Hall-7/F)
  • 12/F, Senior Staff Quarters
  • BBQ Site

Recycling tips:
  • Drain out the liquid in the food waste before recycling.
  • Remove all non-food items from the food waste
