Faculty Teaching Awards

Call for Nomination
Teaching Award Scheme 2023/2024

 

Teaching Award Scheme aims to give recognition to faculty members who are committed to teaching. The award will be in the form of individual or group awards, and are conferred at the Faculty level. The award consists of a certificate and a monetary award of HK$25,000 to be used by the awardee solely for educational activities. Awardees’ names will be permanently displayed at the main entrance of the EdUHK Library.

 

Eligibility:

Full-time academic/teaching staff with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in the university at the time of nomination

 

Deadline of Nomination for 2023/24:

16 February 2024 (Friday)

Faculty Teaching Award


Dr Zou is an outstanding teacher who continuously takes innovative strides in promoting effective teaching and learning. She is also a leading researcher in the field of technology-enhanced language learning and teaching. She has been recognised as one of the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientists in education, as ranked by Stanford University.

Ms LEE Ching Lam Jessica

Ms Lee is a passionate and experienced teacher with very good teaching performance, as evidenced by her consistently high SET scores. Besides her day-to-day teaching at the University, she has worked closely with practitioners in local schools to strengthen the connections between the academics and practitioners. For example, she led a Teaching Development Grants Project on an ebook programme designed to support struggling readers in local primary schools. She also led a Faculty Special Project where she introduced digital storytelling to local secondary schools to explore ways to enhance English language learning with the use of multimodal texts. As the Programme Leader of Professional Development Programmes (English), Ms Lee also made great contribution to the professional development of local English language teachers, leading the development of new PDP courses, which focused on meeting local English teachers’ current and practical needs.

Ms Chan is a caring and experienced teacher with exemplary teaching performance. She is strong at developing close connections with her students and engaging them in an agile learning environment. Also, Ms Chan actively integrates IT components with her teaching. Her effective teaching is evidenced by the excellent result of SET and favourable feedback from her students and peers.

Ms Chan has taken up multiple leadership and service roles. She has been serving as the Departmental Coordinator of the English Language Teaching Minor, the Field Experience Coordinator and Immersion Coordinator of the PDGE(P) and PGDE(S) programmes. In terms of knowledge transfer, Ms Chan has actively participated in internal and external funded projects, including CRAC projects, TDG projects and QEF projects.

Dr TAYLOR Timothy William

Dr TAYLOR Timothy William

Dr Taylor is a charismatic and capable classroom teacher who always has his primary focus on students’ learning needs. To enhance student learning, he develops blended learning approach and integrates IT elements within his teaching. Besides, Dr Taylor has played a major leadership role in pioneering the standardization process for the assessment of Field Experience (FE) among all English programmes in the Faculty. He has also helped lead the reform of the FE practicum from Block Practice to FE Semester. With Dr Taylor’s tireless efforts, all these initiatives have been implemented successfully in the Faculty, where they also serve as good models for other BEd programmes at the University.
